A former AP English teacher, book editor, and freelance writer, Mary left teaching early, earned an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, then worked as Head of Development for Mary Martin, an independent producer specializing in films based on true stories. In her six years with Ms. Martin, Mary helped develop McFarland USA (with Disney), Firelight (with Hallmark HOF), Abducted: The Carlina White Story and The Blue-Eyed Butcher (both with Lifetime).
In 2014, Mary published her first book: MARY MARY QUITE: On Raising Children (and other mind-altering substances), which won seven international book awards. In 2017, she helped founding member of The Power Team, Dr. Bill Henderson, write and publish his book, Secrets for the Seeker, where she was credited as “with Mary Huckstep.” Her spec scripts have won numerous international screenwriting awards, and while she is marketing them to the industry, she works as an online tutor and freelance screenwriter, based in North Hollywood.
